While at a Party for Dr. Sears
I was enjoying the music at Dr. Sears’ birthday bash when Camille asked if she could ask me my age. Camille works in another department and is in her early 30’s. When I told her my age she said, “I can’t believe it!” She seemed so shocked – I just smiled. I thought she was just being nice.
We continued enjoying the music and decided to head over to the bar for a drink when she grabbed another co-worker, Amanda, and told her. Amanda turned and said, “Wow, you’re my mom’s age and you don’t have any wrinkles.” I smiled again and continued chatting and enjoying the party.
We all ended up back at the same table and danced to the Motown band. Camille wasn’t going to let it go. She wanted to know my secret. I shared with her a couple of things, one of which I’m going to share with you today.
What Most Doctors Will Never Tell You About Your Skin & Health
If you’ve ever been frustrated by how your skin looks or how your body feels, I understand.
One of the reasons our skin ages faster than it should has to do with hormones.
As Dr. Sears first informed me when I was a patient in his clinic, one of the hormones that most women are low in is progesterone.
If you didn’t know, you are not alone. Many women are never told this by their doctor.
But, why do you need to know this?
Because progesterone does things for your body that you might not realize:
- Uses fat better
- Assists in thyroid function
- Keeps your blood sugar levels regulated
- Protects against some cancers
- Stimulates bone building
There could be many reasons for low progesterone – diet, lack of exercise, being estrogen predominant, stress, peri-menopause, post menopause and certain medications.
Symptoms of low progesterone can include:
- Anxiety
- Fatigue
- Low sex drive
- Vaginal dryness
- Irritability
- Insomnia
- Depression
- Mood swings
- Migraines
- Weight changes
- Wrinkles
- Dry skin

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, here are a few things you can do today to start restoring your progesterone and begin feeling like yourself again…
- Try a natural progesterone cream designed for your face – which has been shown to reduce the number and depth of wrinkles, improve skin elasticity and firmness.1 You apply it to your skin where it works its way through your bloodstream. Some patients have seen skin tightening in the same areas they apply. I’ve noticed results like this myself. Along with the arm and thigh areas, you can put the cream around your eyes (crow’s-feet area), above the top lip for the vertical lines, and on the lines that go from the outside of your nose to the corner of your mouth (nasolabial fold). Or use it on the entire face.
- Eat plenty of progesterone-boosting foods like organic grass-fed meats.
- Eat foods high in vitamin B6 – red meat, garlic, salmon, nuts and seeds and take a supplement if necessary… because women with low progesterone are often low in vitamins too.
- Relax and enjoy some “me” time every day with chaste berry or red raspberry tea. These teas are a gentle hormone balancer that stimulates progesterone production. But drinking tea also gives you a much needed opportunity to unwind. Two birds with one stone here.
If after trying the above natural treatments you still aren’t feeling yourself and suffer from the symptoms listed consider getting your hormone levels checked by a doctor.
Dr. Sears recommends bioidentical hormones for his patients. They are a blend of natural hormones that are custom made for you by a compounding pharmacy and are only available by prescription. It’s the natural approach to hormone therapy and often referred to as BHRT – Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Progesterone could be the missing puzzle piece to younger skin and a healthier you.
It was for me.
