I have to say, I’m pretty good with my skincare regimen. But every once in a while something comes up in my life that gets me out of my routine.
When this happens I can see the signs that it’s time to get back on track. It’s kind of like exercising; when you stop for a period of time you can see and feel the difference.
The best thing to do is to just start again without beating yourself up. And sometimes you need to change your routine a little bit to make it more interesting, so that you look forward to starting again.
In my case I felt like my skin was looking dull as a result of my neglect. So I decided to try something new – rice powder.
It’s actually not new, Asian women have been using it, for centuries, in their beauty routines. Rice powder has actually been shown to tighten, lighten and brighten the skin.
But rice powder is new for my anti-aging routine and I am loving it.
And it’s so easy.
All you do is put rice into a coffee grinder until it’s the texture you want or need (coarse to powdery):
And now you are ready for your concoctions.
So, happy Monday! Here are your rice powder hacks:
- As an exfoliator – mix coarse rice powder with a little water and in gentle circular motions scrub your face. Rinse and pat dry. If your skin is dry and you need some moisture, add a few drops of Vitamin E oil.
-
For a body scrub mix coarse rice powder and an equal amount of olive oil.
-
An egg, 2-3 tablespoons of rice flour (coarse or fine, experiment here) and a little bit of honey make an amazing tightening and brightening facial mask. Mix ingredients until you have a paste. Apply to clean skin (face and neck) and allow to dry. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Now admire your skin :). I get 2-3 masks from this mixture. Just cover tightly and keep in the fridge for up to a week.
-
To seal your makeup or for oily skin mix 2 teaspoons of finely ground rice powder with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch. Apply with a makeup brush after putting on your makeup.
To a healthy more beautiful you!
