10-Step K-Beauty Routine – Too Much?

April 12, 2021 by Nisse620

If you’ve been with me for a while you know that I am really fascinated with Korean beauty treatments and products.

Korea is much further advanced in skincare protocols and anti-aging treatments than any other country.  Although I do think Italy is trying to catch up with some very innovative products (more on that in a future article).

Today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the K-Beauty 10-step morning routine.

Is it too much?

Well, let’s have a look at it …

Steps:

  1. Cleanse with an oil-based cleanser
  2. Cleanse again with a water- or foam-based cleanser
  3. Exfoliate
  4. Apply toner
  5. Apply essence
  6. Apply serum
  7. Use a sheet mask
  8. Apply an eye cream
  9. Moisturize
  10. Apply sunscreen

There are a few issues I see with this routine.  And some of the steps are just not practical.

You see, not everyone should exfoliate every day.  You could damage your skin, cause inflammation or dry it out.  Optimal exfoliating routine is two to three times a week.

Same goes for the double cleanse, although I do like to double cleanse at night when removing my makeup.  But doing this before you apply your makeup or moisturizer isn’t really necessary (if you’ve cleansed the night before). And you might just end up irritating your skin.

What surprises me most in the 10 steps is the sheet mask.  It actually confuses me, lol.  To me a mask should be used when relaxing or hanging around the house – not when you’re getting ready.

My favorite step, though, in this routine is applying (using) an essence.

In fact, with essences, you can layer them.  And this is where you can really add lots of nutrients, proteins, antioxidants and peptides to your skin.

I actually have a folding fan in my bathroom for drying my essences a little faster so I can move on to the next one.  If I’m not in a hurry then I allow them each to soak in.

So what are your thoughts on the K-Beauty Routine?  Going to give it a try?  Or have you already tried it?

But honestly, more isn’t always better – sometimes less is more!

Sandy
